Overview

Armada Chain allows companies to securely share and leverage data from across all stakeholders in the supply chain.

Challenge

Companies struggle in collaboration due to the differences in technology, platforms and workflows. No company wants to deviate from their workflows, or fully migrate to another company's solution. While blockchain technology showed promise in solving these issues, solutions required extensive integration, were slow, or not effective.

Solution

Armada Chain built the Armada Ecosystem focused on simplicity, both in collaboration and incorporating distributed ledger technologies. Using Armada, companies operate on a shared workflow without changing their processes, having access to all data across the supply chain. Leveraging data from all stakeholders, companies can use applications in communication, analytics and trade finance to maximize their data value.

When distributed ledgers were first introduced to the world, the advantages for supply chain use cases were recognized immediately. A trusted source of truth, decentralization, cross-border settlements, and more — these were the game-changing functionalities that this technology was supposed to provide. However, years after being introduced, most distributed ledger technologies still lack the mainstream adoption requirements for the supply chain industry. The drawbacks of these technologies became apparent: lack of information privacy, slow speeds of transactions, legal and regulatory grey areas, and a limited amount of developer expertise. The supply chain industry has been historically slow to adopt these new technologies, as early solutions required extensive rip-and-replace integrations, significant overhauls of peripheral systems, or were simply no better than utilizing a shared database if on a private network. Working in enterprise distributed ledger consulting, Armada Chain founders, Kent Makishima and Jackie Zhang, found that there were no solutions which addressed the identified challenges the supply chain industry faced.

Hedera Consensus Service delivers the high-throughput, auditability, and fair ordering required by the Armada Chain platform. We’re able to securely process data in our customer’s enterprise supply chains, such as track and trace, without the drawbacks of using smart contracts.

Then came the Armada Platform — a supply chain collaboration hub allowing the secure sharing of data and simple distributed ledger technology integration into any workflow. Armada migrated their platform from Ethereum and EOS to Hedera Hashgraph because it faced first-hand the drawbacks inherent of traditional distributed ledger infrastructure, which did not meet enterprise-grade requirements. Kent and Jackie turned to Hedera Hashgraph to build their supply chain solution at the global Hedera18 hackathon event — realizing the speed, stability, and security of Hedera met their needs. Accepted into the inaugural cohort of Hedera Helix, the premier Hashgraph Accelerator, Armada Chain expanded internationally to Hong Kong, a global shipping hub. Now, Armada Chain pioneers its supply chain ecosystem on Hedera Hashgraph, building a world-class team coming from JP Morgan, Apple, Nokia, Nice Systems, Gates Foundation, and more.
